Vulcan Energy to provide Renault Group with more lithium chemicals

Vulcan Energy said it signed an agreement with Renault Group to supply them with lithium 26,000 to 32,000 metric tonnes of battery-grade lithium chemicals for an initial period of six years.

The agreement's first commercial delivery will begin in 2026. Through this agreement, Renault will be able to avoid between 300 to 700 kg of CO2 which is around what a 50kWh battery can emit. 

This is the second deal between Vulcan and Renault Group. The initial deal was signed in August to provide the group with 6,000 to 17,000 tonnes of lithium annually.

Vulcan is one of the companies testing a direct lithium extraction (DLE) method that uses lesser land and groundwater.
