Boosting investment and production outlook for India's hydrocarbon sector

In an exclusive studio interview from India Energy Week 2025, Chiranjib Sengupta sat down with Dr Pallavi Jain Govil, Director General at the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, India, to explore India’s energy landscape and the demand growth in the decades ahead. Dr Pallavi highlighted the implications of India’s largest round of hydrocarbon auction that was launched at India Energy Week, and how DGH is facilitating the expansion of exploration acreage. She also touched on the proposed amendments to the Oilfields (Regulation & Development) Act to boost India’s exploration and production sector, and the critical role of the hydrocarbon sector in meeting India’s increasing energy demand and ensuring energy security.
