Mar 03, 2024 by Energy Connects
In our next exclusive studio interview at EGYPES 2025, Chiranjib Sengupta sat down with Gavin Thompson, Vice Chairman at Wood Mackenzie, to discuss the opportunities ahead for the global gas sector and the learnings for the industry from the energy trilemma. Gavin highlights how energy security must be integrated with the need to provide affordable and sustainable energy, and talks about why the cost of green hydrogen should come down and renewables capacities must expand for it to be considered as a longer-term energy choice. Discussing the potential of the region as a gas hub, Gavin welcomed increasing cross-border trade and the accelerating pace of progress across Egypt’s energy sector, driven by government strategies and public-private partnerships.
